The service was great, and the food was fantastic. If you are looking for a locals' place, check out Armadillo Cafe. You will be very pleased with your meal. Read more about my experience here: ginapacelli.com/2015/04/…

I read someone who gave this restaurant 1 star. You are entitled to your opinion. However, you obviously have no clue of what real food is and you have lost all of the sensation in your taste buds. This place is as good as it was in the 90's. Eat at home.

Chef Kevin is BACK! For those of us who were loyal Armadillo Cafe fans down in Davie, this is BIG news. I was happily stunned to find they had reopened recently in Boca Raton. Dinner last night (for our anniversary) left no disappointments. The intimate dining experience is back. The hands-on one-on-one approach to customer service is back. Chef Kevin's great personality remains as strong and friendly and the food is excellent. Just what I would expect. Was a loyal fan, still a loyal fan.

I have mixed feelings on the place. I've been told countless stories about how wonderful this place was twenty years ago when it was located in Davie, and couldn't wait to finally try it once I realized it was reopened in Boca! The decor in this place was so trendy and nice. While talking to the chef, he told us how important it was for the location to be right off the highway so friends from all over South Florida could easily get together for a good meal. I loved that. The place definitely seemed like somewhere I could see large groups (of all ages) getting together for a great meal. Once we sat down and decided what we wanted to eat, our waiter came over and told us they were not serving any chicken products that evening, which was a little disappointing as I was really excited to try the stuffed chicken. I settled on the black and white soup and a caesar salad. The person that I was with ordered their dinner, and about five minutes later was told they were out of that too. So now with both of us settling for a second best meal, expectations were low. The black and white soup was phenomenal and had just the right amount of heat to it. My friend had the snapper and could not say enough good things about it. For dessert we had creme brûlée, which was also out of this world. Overall, I was disappointed with the lack of options and the unfriendly staff. However, the food that was did receive was delicious and I can only hope that Armadillo Cafe can return to it's former glory.

Nice, small, good atmosphere restaurant. I had the branzino that was on the Mother's Day special. I heard the waiter tell another table to go with the snapper and not this dish. I should have listened. It was a bit dry and not too tasty. My wife also ordered it and she was ok with it. My daughter ordered the snapper and she loved it. Service was slow. Don't be in a hurry when you eat here. But this may have been because of the large parties that were there for Mother's Day. I will try it again and will order from the main menu next time. Let's see if I can give it another star.

Great food. Nice atmosphere, owner and staff friendly, courteous, attentive! Recommend this restaurant for its great food!

We have now eaten here at Armadillo for over four times and all I can say is that each and every time the food preparation, quantity and selection continues to amaze. Tonight was no different and the new Salmon dish on the menu was a hit at our table. We learned to save room for desserts and are continually impressed by the delicious deserts made by the chefs wife Stacie. Armadillo, see you again soon.

We made reservations for 8 pm on open table and the restaurant confirmed. We were excited to go since this was one of our favorite restaurants when located in Davie. When we arrived the front area was packed with no where to sit and were told it would be 25 minutes and there were 5 reservations waiting. There were no tables and no apologies. The management did not handle the situation well and we had to find somewhere else to eat. What a bummer

Save your money. Came here back in April with parents and grandparents. My grandparents suggested this place as they are friends with the owner. We wanted a 730pm reservation which we were told was unavailable when calling ahead so we settled for 630. Restaurant is in a seriously strange location but heard the food at their other location was impeccable so we did not judge upon the exterior. Walked in and there was only one other table. At this point we are all confused to why we couldn't get a later reservation. Whatever. Started with Duck Quesadillas which came out with 5 slices. There were 6 of us. Also got an order of the jalapeno corn fritters which were literally the only thing on the menu we all enjoyed. As far as the entrees go, we each got something different. Stuffed Chicken, Duck Breast, Skirt Steak,(2) Pork Chops and Steak Tacos. Not one of us was impressed. Actually, to this day, 4 months later, when we are trying to decide where to go, we always joke around saying "THE ARMADILLO???" Hah. Needless to say, we wont be back.

Amazing food! I recommend the Gorgonzola salad! My family and I have been about 3 times, always a nice experience.

First and foremost pleasing anyone in this town is a challenge - let's put them in a kitchen and see what kind of a masterpiece they come up with. We will dine here shortly - I sense it will be better than most that is presented in Boca.

Second time eating here and was a little disappointed. The food was tasteless except for the poblano pepper which was salty and inedible. We had the chocolate fritters which lacked any sweetness at all, and the vanilla ice cream watery and tasteless also. The staff as always was friendly but I don't think this place will survive on tasteless food.

My wife and I tried this place last night. I must say the staff and the food are excellent. a very different type menue with daily specials and 1/2 price bottle of wine during off season on some nights met with owner chef Kevin and had a very pleasant conversation with him

A solid 3.5 stars. Came here on a Saturday night without a reservation and unlike the seating debacle I previously described at the Coral Springs restaurant The Cook and the Cork, the hostess here was gracious enough to seat us without posing a challenge. Service was very good although. From a menu perspective I would like to see a few more adds to the menu although they do have a bunch of specials. We ordered: Jalapeno corn fritters (good) with a nice kick to it, burrata and tomatoes (good), soft tacos with filet mignon with delishly fresh condiments of guacamole and salsa. For my wife's main course she had a very good snapper. The filet was very good although not cooked to my instructions ( I wanted medium plus and it came medium rare) but I did not care for the heavy flour tacos. For $32 (theoretically I don't care about the price) I would have liked a lighter and homemade soft taco. The requested rice I had was so so and With Chef Kevin's creativity I wish he would have done something more flavorful and interesting with it. Since my wife and I like different types of wine we went with wines by the glass and although I was fine with my La Crema Pinot Noir the selection of glasses seems to be an after thought. So will I return? Yes. Could it have been better?Yes.

OMG it was horrible, sorry to say. Took my man for his birthday on May 10. It used to be so good in Davie. I don't think the Chef cooks any more, but has his assistant do all the cooking; I know what Chef Kevin looks like and actually spoke with him in the dining room that night, and the fella I spoke with outside was some young kid with dark hair (and the assistant told me when I went out for a cig that he did all the cooking). Chef Kevin was in the dining area visiting with guests. I wish the place well, but something really has to change. Jim had the pork chop which had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I told him to get it as I was told it was really good and he loves a good pork chop - it was flavorless; my dish, mystery meat is what I'd call it, was like shoe-leather, it was the special of the night and had Dr. Pepper sauce, which thank God was there, otherwise it would have been inedible, which it pretty much was as I couldn't eat but a few bites. All sides were luke warm; the fried cheese was cold and had to be sent back, and when it came out again, still luke warm and no stretch to it whatsoever. So sad the days of that great fine dining food experience from the Davie Amarillo with fabulous flavorful dishes was no where to be seen. Very disappointed; a new restaurant should be giving 100% even if it is a slow night in the restaurant, which it was that night (it was a Sunday). There were only 2 tables being served (we were one) at the time we were there (approx. 7:00 - 7:30 pm).

It has been like coming home to the flavors and friends at Armadillo Cafe!! My husband and I were "bar flys" at both Armadillo venues for many years. It's now back and so are we. The fried goat cheese, duck quesadilla, pistachio crusted mozz are my personal favorites. Had the halibut and grits last night and it was outstanding. Have to mention Stacey's bread sticks, too. Service was great with Patricia and, well...we couldn't be happier for Chef Kevin!!!

I can't believe there is a 4th Armadillo Café. How I have missed this restaurant and now in a very easy location for those of us who have to travel. Just west of the Turnpike on Glades. The truth is that I really only go to steak houses but every now and then I find a creative menu that I can deal with and this is and always has been one of them. I also like when a chef will cook something the way I want it and The Armadillo has always been good that way. I went with my boss who loves good food and travels all over the world and she was truly blown away with what we had on this particular evening. Since the restaurant is new and it was a Tuesday, there were no specials but it didn't matter because it has been a few years since I had anything from Chef Kevin McCarthy. We had Tequila Grilled Shrimp to start on a bed of Corn Fritters. I Finished them all! Little Neck Clams and a delicious broth that had but be soaked up with bread, you can't waste that. I had the Yellowtail but asked for it to be blackened and was granted that request, it was truly blackened in a skillet not coated in spice and baked. Roasted Peppers, Oyster Mushrooms, Poached Garlic, Tomato & Fresh Ginger as the side. Really great flavors. My boss had Stuffed Free Range Chicken Breast, she loved it. It was too late for desert but I've been thinking about that meal since Tuesday and I've decided to go back again tonight. The wine list is very well done, all is good at the new Armadillo in Boca. I wish Kevin, and his staff much success there. Looking forward to having a new restaurant to go back to again and again. I'm still in Davie, Boca I'm jealous, you've got another great restaurant! PS....when you get the full bar I will award the 5th star but the food and service is as good as it gets!

Still 1 Star. I was recently entertaining the idea of going back to Armadillo for a second try with the hope of upgrading my previous 1 Star rating, but after the disrespectful comment/response I received from Chef/Owner Kevin today (July 6) about my dining experience and review of March 20th, I will be abstaining.

This restaurant was one of my favorite restaurants for many years in the city of Davie. I was very excited to find that they had opened in Boca Raton, and brought our friends for dinner. Much to my dismay, it did not measure up, and we are the most in-accommodating restaurant I have visited in years. They refused to substitute for my girlfriend was unable to eat certain foods. They would not give her a second vegetable instead of potato unless she paid extra for it. We opted to leave after several refusals of different requests. Don't bother unless you like a rigid menu with no changes.

Excellent neighborhood gem. So glad they relocated to Boca. Creative and not what you would expect. Those naysayers about Southwest food would be pleasantly surprised. Sophisticated inventive menu well executed. They will need to expand before you know it!

Great decor, a welcome change from the red lantern kitsch. Service was friendly but disjointed. Apps were very good. Entrees were unseasoned and forgettable. A decent meal with ambitions but at these prices, fell way short of the mark. Left us disappointed, especially for those in our party who remember the original Armadillo cafe. Probably won't return.
